Goblintown.wtf NFTs are up 30% in the past 24 hours, hitting a floor price of about 2.5 ETH and catching the attention of Reddit NFT subs.
‘Goblin town’ is slang for a bear market, but despite the bearish NFT and crypto market conditions right now, the Goblintown.wtf NFT collection is pumping.
June update – since this post the Goblintown floor price is now over 7 ETH on OpenSea.
The interesting thing about Goblintown is it costed nothing to invest in them – all 10,000 were minted for free on the Ethereum blockchain.
There’s also no roadmap, utility, or Discord – just a Twitter account – @goblintownwtf with 40k followers – and some high-quality Goblin artwork.
They were minted on May 22nd, and quickly rose to a 0.5 ETH floor price on OpenSea by May 23rd, a DappRadar news piece noted at the time.
Six days later that floor has increased 500 percent to 2.5 ETH and Goblintown were among the top selling NFTs by trading volume – just behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club, and overtaking the popular Otherdeeds for Otherside NFTs – virtual land plots.
Goblintown.wtf hit #2 in trading volume
Of the 3 top NFTs they’re also the only one going up in value – BAYC have dropped almost 50% since hitting a 153 ETH all time high floor price on May 1st, according to Coingecko data.
The deliberate move to avoid any kind of hype, whitelisting for the public mint, or elaborate marketing and collabs, seems to have captured the hearts of NFT collectors online, on Reddit, Twitter and across the internet.
Goblintown have now hit $23.1 million in sales volume – 12,853 ETH – since their minting just seven days ago, incredible for a new NFT project that was free-to-mint in the middle of a bear cycle.
Will it last? NotOkayBears also topped the charts for trading volume this month, and are now nowhere to seen – although they were delisted from OpenSea for being a derivative of the Okay Bears. Goblintown NFTs are unique.
The market also seems ready for a less serious, ‘troll’ style project – the meme coins of NFTs. NotOkayBears’ time in the limelight showed that.
Goblintown.wtf posted a Twitter meme showing them urinating on other blue chip NFTs like the Moonbirds, Invisible Friends, CloneX and the Mutant Ape Yacht Club – many of which have dropped double digit percentages since their peak.
This toilet humor is right up Redditors’ street and offers some light relief during a downtrend. Their website goblintown.wtf is also very creatively animated.
Some other rising non-fungible tokens to watch are:
In our ‘Best Crypto to Buy on Reddit‘ piece we noted one token that was trending on the forum during its bull run was LBLOCK, the native token of the Lucky Block project.
According to Reddit crypto tracking site Coindicators the r/LuckyBlock_ subreddit was gaining 50 – 60 new subs a day, hitting around 1,445 subs when the price broke $0.008.
The Lucky Block Reddit now has 5,977 subscribers. They also minted 10,000 NFTs – their first NFT collection the Platinum Rollers Club.
On May 31st one holder of a Lucky Block NFT will be awarded $1 million in their debut decentralized jackpot draw. Only around 2,500 have been sold so far so the odds are 1 in 2,500 of becoming an instant millionaire.
After that smaller daily NFT jackpot draws will be held, making them also a long-term investment.
We’ve added a review of a new NFT to watch on best NFT games page – Girls, Robots, Dragons.
Girls, Robots, Dragons is currently at the presale stage, a chance to invest in NFTs early – the GRD NFT drop kicks off on June 6th.
Only 3,000 NFTs will be minted at a price of 0.06 ETH for early buyers (0.07 ETH after), and a further 6,000 will be vaulted cards that play a role in this NFT trading card game.
They’re also dust-proofed with a play to earn utility, offering passive income opportunities while you play, similar to Lucky Block. Learn more about both of these NFT projects below.
