Polkadot’s DOT Slips 4% From Highs, Now Testing Support at $3.32 Level

Polkadot (DOT) exhibited a tight trading range, fluctuating within a 4.4% band, according to CoinDesk Research’s technical analysis. This period was characterized by a pronounced rally to $3.46, swiftly followed by a significant correction. The analysis highlights the emergence of support at the $3.32 level, currently undergoing testing.

The price action reveals a dynamic interplay of bullish and bearish forces. A strong bullish surge, marked by above-average volume (1.81M), reached its peak at $3.46 during the 19:00-20:00 timeframe on June 30th. This established a key resistance level. Conversely, robust support materialized at $3.32 on July 1st at 07:00, again accompanied by high volume (1.34M).

The subsequent trading hours illustrated a shift towards bearish sentiment. Despite a brief recovery attempt around 14:00, the price ultimately closed near the lower boundary of its range at $3.33. This suggests that selling pressure ultimately prevailed. A sharp rally to $3.36 at 15:06, representing the intraday high, was quickly reversed by a steep sell-off accelerating after 15:36.

This sell-off is further underscored by significant volume spikes observed between 15:31 and 15:32 (267K combined). These spikes suggest substantial institutional selling pressure, contributing to the overall bearish trend. The current price of DOT, trading at approximately $3.31, reflects a 2.4% decrease over the past 24 hours. This downward movement mirrors the broader market trend, as indicated by a similar 2.4% decline in the CoinDesk 20 index.

The Polkadot ecosystem’s underlying activity also experienced a downturn during the first quarter of the year. Transaction volume decreased by 36.9% compared to the previous quarter, falling to 137.1 million transactions. This slowdown adds context to the observed price volatility and bearish pressure. The confluence of technical indicators and on-chain data paints a picture of a market currently grappling with bearish sentiment, although the $3.32 support level may provide some short-term stability.
