Elon Musk Says America Party Will Embrace BTC as ‘Fiat Is Hopeless’

Elon Musk’s plans to establish a new political party, tentatively named the “America Party,” mark a significant shift in his political alignment. This pro-tech, centrist party emerges from a publicized split with President Donald Trump, stemming from disagreements over the “Big Beautiful Bill,” which Musk vehemently criticizes as fiscally irresponsible and detrimental, referring to it as the “debt slavery bill.”

The America Party, still in its formative stages and lacking official registration, is envisioned as a platform advocating for technological advancement, free speech, and deregulation. Musk’s pronouncements on X (formerly Twitter) indicate a centrist approach to other policy areas. Currently, the party lacks an official website, limiting public information to Musk’s social media activity and supportive re-tweets.

A key plank of the America Party’s platform is its embrace of bitcoin (BTC), reflecting Musk’s longstanding support for cryptocurrencies. Both SpaceX and Tesla, companies under Musk’s leadership, currently hold BTC in their corporate treasuries, demonstrating a practical commitment to the cryptocurrency. This stance positions the America Party distinctly within the political landscape, aligning with a growing segment of the population interested in cryptocurrency and its potential economic impact.

The party’s immediate strategy, according to Musk, will not include a presidential candidacy. Instead, the initial focus will be on securing representation in the House and Senate. This phased approach suggests a pragmatic strategy for building a robust political base before aiming for higher office.

Trump’s reaction to Musk’s new political venture has been strongly negative. In a Truth Social post, Trump characterized Musk as having “gone off the rails” and labelled him a “TRAIN WRECK,” highlighting the acrimony between the two previously affiliated figures. The divergence between Musk and Trump signals a potential realignment of political forces and a growing fissure within the previously aligned factions. The future trajectory of the America Party and its impact on the broader political landscape remain to be seen.
