Bitcoin Cash Rally Accelerates on Whale Activity and Bullish Technical Signals
Bitcoin Cash (BCH) experienced a slight dip on July 5th, trading at $482.54, a 0.23% decrease over 24 hours, following a pullback from its recent eight-month high of $526.5 on July 1st. This peak represented a 75% increase over the previous three months, fueled by market enthusiasm, whale accumulation, and speculative inflows, accompanied by a tripling of daily trading volume exceeding 120,000 tokens. The surge was largely attributed to capital rotation into mid-cap cryptocurrencies as investors sought higher gains beyond major coins during a broader market upswing.
Despite the price rally, on-chain fundamentals remain weak. Daily active BCH addresses have fallen to a six-year low, suggesting speculation rather than increased network utility is driving the price. However, technical indicators suggest further upside potential. A golden cross formation—where the 50-day moving average crossed above the 200-day MA—appeared in late June, a historically bullish signal. Open interest in BCH derivatives also increased by 27.4% to $578 million, adding to speculative momentum. Analysts are closely monitoring the $478 to $508 range as a key support zone.
Intriguingly, IntoTheBlock reported a 122.45% surge in large whale transactions (over $100,000) totaling 957,440 BCH ($482 million) on July 4th, echoing similar spikes preceding past price movements. A suspicious 10,000 BCH transaction ($5 million) on July 5th, preceding the large movement of dormant Bitcoin, further heightened interest. Experts speculate it served as a test of wallet access before the massive Bitcoin transaction.
The Bitcoin Cash Foundation released Knuth v0.68.0, unifying the node’s codebase and paving the way for future UTXO efficiency upgrades. While major adoption announcements were absent, smaller community projects continue exploring BCH-based micropayments and NFTs. Roger Ver continues his advocacy for BCH as a scalable alternative to Bitcoin, though without new institutional product launches.
Technically, BCH traded within a narrow range between $481.83 and $489.35 on July 4th and 5th. Strong support was seen at $481.83, while resistance formed at $489.43. A late surge briefly broke above $483.25, with support forming between $483.35 and $483.45.
