What’s Next for Ether, Solana, XRP and Other Majors as Bitcoin Clears $118K
Bitcoin’s recent surge past $118,000 has ignited a risk-on sentiment across the crypto market, prompting analysts to observe whether altcoins will mirror this momentum or lag behind in a Bitcoin-dominated rally. Historically, Bitcoin’s ascent to new highs serves as a liquidity signal, attracting sidelined capital and eventually leading to investment diversification into large-cap altcoins.
Early indicators of this diversification are already evident. Ether (ETH) is challenging its year-to-date highs, Solana’s SOL is reclaiming key levels above $160, and mid-cap tokens like Shiba Inu (SHIB), Hyperliquid’s HYPE, and Avalanche’s AVAX have seen double-digit percentage gains in the past 24 hours.
Presto Research Analyst Rick Maeda explains that Bitcoin’s breaking of its all-time high acts as a liquidity signal, potentially shifting investment flows into other major crypto assets. Historically, new Bitcoin highs tend to spread liquidity across the broader market. This capital reallocation is already visible in large-cap altcoins such as ETH, SOL, and XRP, fueled by renewed retail interest and institutional rebalancing. Maeda anticipates increased altcoin dispersion following this market regime shift.
Solana, characterized by its high beta and retail accessibility, remains a key token to watch due to its narrative-driven fundamentals. Continued user activity on Solana-based protocols and token launches sustain liquidity flows. XRP, primarily driven by sentiment and speculative factors, is experiencing renewed inflows as traders reassess legal clarity and historical correlations. With Bitcoin’s volatility subsiding, XRP and Cardano’s ADA are expected to benefit from subsequent risk rotation.
Ethereum’s rise is supported by increased ETF inflows and the anticipation of institutional rebalancing. The growing popularity of spot ETH products and the resurgence of Layer-2 activity solidify its position as a prime beneficiary of the market’s upward trend. BTSE COO Jeff Mei forecasts ETH potentially reclaiming $3,200 and SOL returning to $200. LVRG Research Director Nick Ruck agrees, noting that as Bitcoin hits new highs, altcoins are poised to benefit, with Ethereum ETF inflows reaching record volumes. The recent removal of a crypto broker tax rule in the US further facilitates DeFi expansion. Blue-chip coins like SOL and XRP are expected to rise once Bitcoin volatility stabilizes.
