SOL: Nasdaq-Listed Firm Secures $200M in Financing, with Over $150M Tied to Solana Treasury Strategy
Solana (SOL) experienced a significant price surge, reaching approximately $166.28, representing a 6.23% increase over the past 24 hours, according to CoinDesk Research. This upward trend follows Upexi (UPXI)’s announcement of securing $200 million in new financing, a move that will significantly bolster its SOL holdings.
Upexi, a Nasdaq-listed consumer brands company, raised $50 million in equity from accredited and institutional investors, including its CEO, at $4.00 per share, with management purchasing at a premium. Concurrently, they issued $150 million in convertible notes, backed by SOL as collateral, carrying a 2% annual interest rate and convertible into Upexi stock at $4.25 per share. These notes mature in 24 months and are expected to close around July 16th. Both offerings are private and unregistered with the SEC.
Upexi’s existing SOL holdings, reported as 735,692 on June 24th (an 8% increase from May 28th), are projected to more than double upon the financing’s completion. This substantial investment in SOL underscores Upexi’s bullish outlook on the cryptocurrency’s future.
Technical analysis reveals SOL’s resilience over the preceding 24-hour period. A 6.52% appreciation, from $156.45 to $166.65, showcases robust price action. Volume analysis indicates institutional involvement, particularly around the $160.31 support level, where trading volume significantly exceeded the 24-hour average. Subsequent price movements breached resistance near $165.30, suggesting sustained bullish momentum.
The final hour showed consolidation, oscillating within a $2.90 range ($164.24 to $166.76), before settling at $165.87. This consolidation phase, characterized by both distribution and accumulation periods, points toward a healthy price discovery process. Support around $164.30 and resistance near $166.50-$166.75 define a well-defined trading corridor, suggesting potential for further upward movement towards the $170.00 psychological level. The technical picture, coupled with Upexi’s substantial investment, paints a positive outlook for SOL’s short-term trajectory.
