Bitcoin Breaks $119, While XLM and HBAR Lead Altcoin Rally

Bitcoin (BTC) reached a new all-time high of $119,308 at 2:20 p.m. UTC on Sunday, marking a 1.4% increase over the previous 24 hours. This surge was somewhat unexpected, as the market awaited the U.S. stock market’s opening on Monday to gauge the reaction to President Trump’s newly announced 30% tariffs on imports from the EU and Mexico. Analysts remain bullish, with predictions reaching as high as $250,000 by year-end. Fundstrat Capital CIO Thomas Lee, for instance, cited a supply-demand imbalance as a key driver for this potential price increase, forecasting a range of $150,000 to $250,000 by the end of the year. At 4:11 p.m. UTC, Bitcoin traded at approximately $118,882, still representing a 1.38% gain over the 24-hour period.

Stellar Lumens (XLM) also experienced significant growth, peaking at $0.4815 at 3:20 p.m. UTC before settling at $0.4578—a 22% increase over 24 hours. This performance, while impressive, followed a 6% surge on Saturday, solidifying its position as a top performer among the top 20 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.

Hedera Hashgraph (HBAR) emerged as the top percentage gainer among the top 20, reaching an intraday high of $0.2516 at 3:10 p.m. UTC before trading around $0.2439—a 27% increase in 24 hours. Crypto analyst Rekt Capital highlighted HBAR’s 62% surge, noting its resemblance to the 2021 price cycle and suggesting a potential breakout pattern. The analyst emphasized that HBAR’s price action has mirrored the 2021 structure closely and that any short-term dips could offer retest opportunities before a break above current resistance. Rekt Capital also pointed out that even a modest 2.5% dip in Bitcoin’s market dominance has fueled strong altcoin rallies, suggesting that a more substantial drop could significantly accelerate capital flow into the altcoin market.
