Michael Saylor’s Strategy Adds 4,225 Bitcoin, Bringing BTC Stack to 601,550

MicroStrategy’s Significant Bitcoin Acquisition Boosts Holdings to 601,550 BTC

MicroStrategy (MSTR), a prominent publicly traded company, significantly expanded its Bitcoin (BTC) reserves last week, acquiring 4,225 BTC for a total of $472.5 million. This latest purchase increases the company’s total BTC holdings to 601,550, acquired at a cumulative cost of $42.87 billion, representing an average acquisition price of $71,268 per coin. Given Bitcoin’s current market price of approximately $121,500, MicroStrategy’s BTC holdings are now valued at roughly $73 billion, showcasing a substantial increase in value.

The acquisition was financed through a diverse funding strategy. $330.9 million was sourced from net proceeds of common share sales under the company’s at-the-market program. Additional funding came from the sale of preferred shares: $71.1 million from STRK, $55.3 million from STRF, and $15.0 million from STRD shares. These transactions generated a combined $472.3 million in net proceeds, precisely covering the cost of the Bitcoin acquisition. Following the news, MSTR shares experienced a positive market reaction, rising 2.50% to $445.

MicroStrategy’s substantial investment underscores the growing institutional interest in Bitcoin as a long-term asset. This trend is further reinforced by recent announcements from other publicly traded companies. Sequans (SQNS) added 683 BTC to its holdings, bringing its total to 1,053 BTC. K33 (K33 AB) now holds 121 BTC after acquiring 36 BTC, surpassing the 100 BTC benchmark. Tao Alpha (SATS) entered the Bitcoin market with an initial purchase of 28.56 BTC. The Blockchain Group increased its reserves to 1,933 BTC through a 29 BTC acquisition. Adding to this wave of institutional adoption, Metaplanet (3350) purchased 797 BTC. These concurrent purchases highlight a broader trend among public companies actively accumulating Bitcoin.
