CoinShares Launches Zero-Fee SEI ETP With Staking Yield Across Europe
CoinShares, a prominent crypto asset manager overseeing over $8 billion in digital assets, has introduced a novel exchange-traded product (ETP) providing investors with exposure to Sei (SEI), a Layer-1 blockchain optimized for high-speed, low-latency trading. This innovative product, trading under the ticker CSEI on the SIX Swiss Exchange, is noteworthy for its zero management fees and a compelling 2% annualized staking yield automatically distributed to investors.
The CSEI ETP represents a significant advancement in accessibility for institutional investors seeking exposure to SEI. Previously, institutional participation was hampered by complex custody and operational hurdles. This ETP elegantly circumvents these obstacles by offering direct, regulated access to SEI, physically backed by the underlying tokens. This streamlined approach is particularly relevant given CoinShares’ recent achievement as the first European crypto asset manager to secure a Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) license. This license facilitates the product’s seamless passporting across CoinShares’ extensive European market network.
The launch underscores CoinShares’ commitment to bridging the gap between institutional investors and the evolving landscape of digital assets. While various crypto ETPs exist in Europe, their adoption remains significantly behind the robust growth of spot ETFs in the United States. Data from JustETF reveals a total of 108 crypto ETPs in Europe, collectively managing approximately €13.92 billion ($16.21 billion) in assets. This pales in comparison to the considerable assets under management of established players like BlackRock’s IBIT, boasting over $86 billion in net assets, and the burgeoning spot bitcoin (BTC) ETF market, which SoSoValue estimates at $151.4 billion in total net assets.
