DOGE Plunges 9% in Steep Sell-Off, but Rebounds From Critical Support Zone

Dogecoin (DOGE) experienced a significant price drop of 9.24%, falling from $0.248 to $0.226 within a 24-hour period ending July 29th. This price fluctuation encompassed a 10.39% range, from a high of $0.248 to a low of $0.223. A late recovery pushed the price to $0.226 at the session’s close.

The sell-off coincided with a broader bearish sentiment in the cryptocurrency market, largely attributed to central banks’ reevaluation of interest rate cuts in the face of persistent inflation. Geopolitical instability and trade uncertainties further dampened investor enthusiasm, particularly among institutional players. Heavy institutional selling pressure was observed between 13:00 and 14:00, with trading volume peaking at 918 million—double the 24-hour average of 410 million.

Initially, DOGE opened at $0.240, rising to $0.248 by 05:00. The subsequent sell-off, concentrated between 13:00 and 14:00, pushed the price below $0.230. The final hour saw a dip to $0.223 before a recovery to the closing price of $0.226. Interestingly, accumulation behavior was noted within the $0.223–$0.225 range, with volume spikes suggesting institutional buying at lower prices.

Technically, DOGE traded within a $0.025 range ($0.248 to $0.223). Key resistance remains at the $0.240–$0.241 zone, repeatedly rejected during the period. Support appears to be established at the $0.223 level, tested twice and holding on a substantial volume of 553 million at the close. A 60-minute rebound pattern following the heavy selling suggests a potential short-term price floor. Overall momentum is bearish, although signs of bottoming are evident as sell volume decreases.

Traders are closely watching whether DOGE can break above $0.241 to signal a trend reversal. Failure to maintain support at $0.223 could trigger a further decline towards the $0.215–$0.218 range. Upcoming U.S. inflation data and Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) statements will likely be significant drivers of future price movements. Market sentiment remains cautious due to macroeconomic uncertainties and reduced interest in meme assets.
