It may have been the annual holiday special on The View, but before the ladies delved into the festivities, they all spent the first segment of the show ripping Donald Trump‘s latest business endeavor — non-fungible tokens, or NFTs.
The former president’s “major announcement” came in the form of an “infomercial,” as Alyssa Farah Griffin called it, where he revealed his Trump Digital Trading Cards as well as chances to win a dinner with him or an opportunity to play golf on one of his courses.
“Poor Donald, he needs money for his legal fees. Let’s do a GoFundMe for him,” Joy Behar suggested through laughter, to which Ana Navarro replied, “I’ll contribute to a GoFundMe if it takes him on one of Elon Musk’s spaceships up to space and leaves him there.”
While Behar claimed “he has truly lost it,” Sunny Hostin added that his venture into the world of NFTs is “disgraceful and embarrassing.”
She continued, “He’s selling little NFT digital sports cards and the thing is, it just goes to show you what a horrible businessperson he is because NFTs are at their lowest in history. Everyone’s losing money on that.”
Griffin, who used to work under the Trump administration but has since spoken out against him, went on to blast the trading cards, which feature the former president in bizarre settings such as him standing in front of Mount Rushmore or wearing a spacesuit. The host equated them to “Pokémon” cards.
“It’s like the Pokémon presidency,” she said. “Honestly, I had several people text me when this came out like, ‘Is this real?’ They thought for sure it was fake. It looks like a 3 a.m. infomercial you’d wake up to.”
Behar went on to quip, “You know what would really raise money? If he would autograph those nuclear codes that he stole,” before Navarro concluded the segment by asking, “How many do I have to buy so that he goes the hell away?”
It looks like these ladies won’t have Trump Trading Cards on their holiday wishlists this year.
