Generative art non-fungible tokens (NFT) minted on Art Blocks have historically ranked highly across marketplaces, and the same goes for its latest free-to-mint Friendship Bracelets collection.
The 38,413-piece collection was conceptualized by Art Blocks founder Erick Calderon (Snowfro) and designed by artist and Japanese Generative Art Foundation Director Alexis André. The animated artwork was inspired by the novelty bracelets shared between kids and was available to any existing holder of an Art Blocks NFT.
According to Art Blocks’ collection page, holders have been able to claim up to two tokens for free since its release in late October up until the claim window period closed on Tuesday.
Following the claim period, the collection quickly shot to the top of the leaderboard on secondary marketplace OpenSea. As of Tuesday afternoon, the collection had the highest 24-hour trading volume on OpenSea at 996 ETH (over $1.3 million) and amassed a total trading volume of 7,437 ETH (about $9.9 million). At the time of writing, the floor price hovered around of 0.62 ETH, roughly $830.
Art Blocks, an art collective that facilitates the minting of generative art NFTs, is home to popular collections such as Tyler Hobbs’ Fidenza or Emily Xie’s Memories of Qilin. This recent mint aims to give back to the community that purchased artwork from its roster of artists since the company’s launch in 2020.
“The project is a token of our appreciation to the creators, makers, builders and collectors who have all contributed to making the Art Blocks community what it is today,” said Art Blocks on its collection page. “Participating in this project is a signal, both online and IRL, that you’re a participant in this evolution of art and community.”
In addition to the digital bracelet, owners of the token will receive instructions on how to replicate their bracelet in a physical form.
