There's no denying that Minecraft is one of the world's most popular video games today. The popular 3D virtual survival game owned by Microsoft and developed by Mojang Studios has had several NFT projects integrating their ecosystem into the sandbox platform over the recent months. With that said, its latest update has significantly impacted several non-fungible token collections causing the floor price to decline massively after reporting that "integrations of NFTs with Minecraft are generally not something we will support or allow."
Mojang Studios also added: "To ensure that Minecraft players have a safe and inclusive experience, blockchain technologies are not permitted to be integrated inside our client and server applications, nor may Minecraft in-game content such as worlds, skins, persona items, or other mods, be utilized by blockchain technology to create a scarce digital asset."
While major companies and brands continue to explore the world of NFT, Web3 projects that use play-to-earn within Minecraft servers does not meet the official guidelines. Mojang stated that it will continue to study blockchain technology. However, there are currently "no plans of implementing blockchain technology into Minecraft right now."
