The National Football League (NFL), the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), and Dapper Labs have publicly launched NFL All Day, an official non-fungible token (NFT) video digital collectible platform.
The platform allows fans to buy and sell NFTs based on officially licensed footage involving NFL players, teams and moments.
The official debut follows a soft launch last year, with new and existing users will be eligible to receive a free NFT featuring Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who will serve as an ambassador for the All Day venture.
“Today, we welcome fans worldwide to NFL All Day, allowing them to experience their fandom in a new way that bridges the emerging technology of NFTs with our game,” said Joe Ruggiero, senior vice president of consumer products at the NFL.
“Last year’s soft launch brought in a surge of early adopters who began collecting video highlight NFTs of NFL plays and we plan to grow the number of users significantly with the official launch of the platform.”
“The early success of NFL All Day highlights the power of creating a platform that provides long-term value to the fan experience” said Roham Gharegozlou, Dapper Labs chief executive. “We’re excited to welcome the millions of football fans to NFL All Day, and enable them to own a piece of the sport they love as well as join a strong and vibrant community of fellow fans.”
The first public drop takes place this week, with a ‘headliner’ pack featuring a legendary moment from Tom Brady’s career, along with plays from Jalen Ramsey, Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson and Jonathan Taylor.
The NFL hopes the initiative will replicate the success of Dapper Lab’s similar venture with the National Basketball Association (NBA), generating revenue and driving fan engagement. Several other sports properties have launched digital video collectibles, including Major League Baseball (MLB) with Candy Digital, the National Hockey League (NHL) with Sweet, and the German Bundesliga soccer league with OneFootball.
Dapper Labs has a separate partnership with the Los Angeles Rams for team-specific NFTs and has launched digital collectibles featuring the franchise’s Super Bowl LVI rings.
