The Mercury News is celebrating the Golden State Warriors victory in the NBA Finals with a special section published in today’s print editions and launching an NFT collection with an NFT featuring the front page of the commemorative section.
The championship victory is the fourth for the Warriors in the past decade, the fifth since the team came to the Bay Area in 1962 and the team’s seventh overall.
The cover of today’s special section was designed by Chris Gotsill, the Bay Area News Group’s deputy news editor, and the NFT was created by the Southern California News Group’s graphics director Jeff Goertzen and graphic artist Kurt Snibbe.
The NFT is being auctioned on Rarible. The auction will close Monday June 27, 2022.
The Mercury News is part of the Bay Area News Group, which also includes the East Bay Times.
The NFT does not include ownership of the copyrights or other content in the image. MediaNews Group, Inc., owns the copyrights. The license to display items associated the NFTs shall only be for personal non-commercial use. See also the MediaNews Group NFT Terms and Conditions.
Additional commemorative items can be purchased in The Mercury News online store.
