Cristiano Ronaldo’s first NFT collection has been available since Friday, November 18, but you won’t see us suggesting that you — or anyone — should sign up for it.
NFTs are a digital phenomenon that have exploded over the past two years but there are concerns about financial, environmental sustainability and many other risks involved.
Manchester United have signed up for the same sort of scheme, albeit with a competitor to Binance (Tezos), which made Ronaldo’s announcement a little bit more interesting. The one thing, however, I can’t get away from is the cringey advertisement they’ve done to promote it.

The aim is to give fans an introduction to Web3 through the world of NFTs.
For Ronaldo’s collection, seven animated statues with four rarity levels have been released: Super Super Rare (SSR), Super Rare (SR), Rare (R), and Normal (N). Each NFT statue depicts Ronaldo in an iconic moment from his life – but not when being interviewed by Piers Morgan we should add.
More additions will follow in early 2023 but we urge you to stay away from them.
