Bitcoin Cash Surges 5%, Chalks Out Bullish Golden Cross Against BTC

Bitcoin Cash (BCH) registered notable gains in the past 24 hours, defying the weakness in Bitcoin (BTC) and the broader cryptocurrency market. This surge saw BCH climb over 5%, from $491.25 to $516, accompanied by a tripling of trading volume at its peak, with over 120,000 BCH changing hands. Prices briefly touched $528, a level last seen on December 18th, according to CoinDesk data.

While high-volume rallies often suggest sustainability, this BCH price increase isn’t supported by improvements in on-chain fundamentals. CoinDesk’s AI research indicates that Bitcoin Cash network fundamentals recently plummeted to six-year lows in daily active addresses, revealing a “critical demand deficit.” This suggests the recent price action is primarily driven by speculative trading rather than genuine network usage or adoption growth.

A detailed analysis of the 24-hour period from June 30th, 13:00 to July 1st, 12:00 UTC, reveals a 5.8% increase in BCH price, from $491.25 to $519.65. The price fluctuated within a range of $37.80 (7.7%), peaking at $527.37 at 03:00 UTC on July 1st, supported by exceptionally high trading volume. Key resistance was established around $527, with multiple price tests, while support solidified at $519-$520, signaling continued bullish momentum despite minor pullbacks. The surge in trading volume—nearly triple the 24-hour average—indicates strong buyer interest. However, the last hour of this period showed significant volatility, with a brief increase followed by a sharp decline.

Further strengthening the bullish narrative is the BCH/BTC pair’s performance on Binance. This pair, tracking the price ratio of BCH to BTC, saw a remarkable near-20% increase in four weeks, reaching a six-month high of 0.0049 (TradingView data). This outperformance is underscored by a bullish “golden cross” pattern—the 50-day simple moving average (SMA) crossing above the 200-day SMA. This technical indicator suggests that short-term momentum is now outpacing the longer-term trend, potentially signaling a significant bull market for BCH. However, the lack of on-chain support remains a crucial factor to consider.
