Securitize, RedStone Pilot ‘Trusted Single Source Oracle’ to Secure Tokenized Fund NAVs

Securitize and RedStone have jointly unveiled a novel solution for secure on-chain verification of Net Asset Value (NAV) data within tokenized private funds. Their whitepaper introduces the Trusted Single Source Oracle (TSSO) model, designed to address a critical DeFi challenge: ensuring the authenticity and integrity of NAV updates originating from a single, trusted source.

Traditional crypto oracles utilize multiple price feeds to mitigate manipulation risks. However, private funds rely on a single fund administrator for NAV calculations, creating a unique vulnerability. The TSSO framework innovatively tackles this by establishing a cryptographically linked chain of NAV updates. Each update incorporates a secure digital signature, timestamp, reference to the preceding record, and a hash, ensuring immutability and preventing tampering.

A dual-key system enhances security: a cold-stored “root key” for significant updates and a “chain key” for minor, routine adjustments within predefined thresholds. This approach balances robust security with the practical need for efficient NAV data refresh cycles. The process, according to RedStone founder Jakub Wojciechowski, involves Securitize constructing an internal blockchain for price updates, guaranteeing cryptographic connection between each update. This ensures complete authentication and prevents data compromise, relying solely on the verified single source.

This collaboration directly addresses the trust gap between traditional finance and the decentralized finance ecosystem, a crucial factor for the growth of tokenized funds. The TSSO model, if widely adopted, will significantly improve the integration of tokenized funds with on-chain tools.

Securitize, a leading tokenized asset issuer, is already piloting TSSO with select clients, aiming for broader availability soon. Jorge Serna, Securitize’s Chief Product and Technology Officer, highlights the model’s natural fit for their existing treasury and credit fund offerings, where they often act as transfer agent or fund administrator, publishing price feeds via RedStone. This underscores the growing emphasis on building robust, institutional-grade infrastructure within the DeFi space. The TSSO model represents a significant step towards bridging the traditional finance and DeFi worlds, facilitating the expansion of tokenized assets.
