Crypto Lender Nexo Sponsors Europe’s Premier Golf Tour for Eight-Figure Sum

Nexo, a cryptocurrency lending platform, has secured a significant sponsorship deal with the DP World Tour, Europe’s premier golf competition. The multi-year agreement, valued at over $10 million, designates Nexo as the tour’s official digital asset and wealth partner through 2027. While a spokesperson declined to disclose the exact figure, confirming only an eight-figure sum, the partnership represents a substantial investment by Nexo in brand visibility and market penetration within the European sporting landscape.

A key component of this sponsorship includes the renaming of a DP World Tour event. The Scottish Championship, scheduled for August 7-10, 2025, will be rebranded as the Nexo Championship. This event will be held at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen, a course owned by former U.S. President Donald Trump. The choice of venue adds an interesting layer to the sponsorship, considering Trump’s past political affiliations and business dealings.

The Nexo-DP World Tour partnership marks a significant milestone for the cryptocurrency lender, following a period of strategic repositioning. In 2022, Nexo withdrew from the U.S. market citing stalled regulatory negotiations regarding its Earn Interest Product. However, the company announced its return to the U.S. in April 2025, suggesting a shift in regulatory climate or a successful resolution of previous concerns.

Co-founder Antoni Trenchev attributed the company’s return to the U.S. to a change in the political landscape, stating that “Thanks to the vision and leadership of President Donald J. Trump, his administration, and his family, the United States is once again a place where innovation is championed, not stifled.” This statement directly links Nexo’s renewed U.S. presence to the Trump administration’s policies, implying a more favorable regulatory environment under the previous administration. The statement highlights a potential correlation between political leadership and the business climate for cryptocurrency companies, although further analysis would be needed to validate this claim.

This sponsorship agreement, coupled with Nexo’s re-entry into the U.S. market, signals a confident and aggressive growth strategy for the company, leveraging both sporting partnerships and a perceived change in the regulatory landscape to expand its reach and influence in the global cryptocurrency market.
