Aethir and Credible Introduce DePIN-Powered Credit Card

Aethir, a decentralized GPU cloud network, and Credible Finance, a lending protocol, have launched a novel credit card and loan product. This offering represents a significant step in bridging the gap between decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePINs) and traditional finance. The product allows Aethir’s ATH token holders and node operators to access stablecoin credit without selling their tokens.

This innovative approach leverages the underlying infrastructure of Aethir’s network. Aethir’s DePIN model incentivizes users to contribute computing power, rewarding them with ATH tokens based on performance metrics like uptime and job completion. This effectively transforms physical infrastructure into a source of on-chain income. The new credit product allows users to collateralize their earned ATH tokens to obtain credit.

Credible Finance’s AI-powered credit engine underpins the loan approval process. This engine analyzes a user’s on-chain activity, asset holdings, and transaction history to determine creditworthiness and loan limits. The result is a revolving credit line or a preloaded card usable for ATH or stablecoins on the Solana blockchain. Crucially, there are no fees associated with the card.

The launch of this product is particularly noteworthy given the recent downturn in crypto borrowing. The first quarter of the year witnessed a significant $4.75 billion decline in open loans on decentralized lending platforms – the largest quarterly contraction since 2023. This decline highlights the limitations of existing overcollateralized lending models. The substantial global credit gap of $5.7 trillion for small and medium-sized businesses in emerging markets further underscores the need for innovative credit solutions.

Aethir and Credible Finance contend that their product directly addresses these challenges. By utilizing on-chain activity and infrastructure ownership to assess creditworthiness, they offer a more nuanced and representative approach to lending. The credit card will initially be available to GPU providers, node operators, and token holders within the Aethir ecosystem, with plans for wider availability in the future. This initiative marks the first instance of a DePIN-native token being directly used for real-time credit access, effectively transforming tokenized infrastructure into readily usable financial capital.
