Assetera Opens Tokenized Securities Market to Crypto Exchanges With MiFID-Compliant API

Assetera, an Austrian-based regulated trading platform, has launched a groundbreaking API designed to revolutionize the European market for tokenized securities. This API empowers cryptocurrency exchanges to seamlessly offer tokenized financial products, such as stocks and government bonds, to their users without the need for individual MiFID licensing. This addresses a significant hurdle in the European regulatory landscape, where stringent financial regulations have previously hindered the widespread adoption of tokenized assets by crypto platforms.

The Assetera API acts as a comprehensive compliance solution. Exchanges integrating the API can directly offer tokenized securities on their platforms while Assetera manages all necessary regulatory compliance, including crucial KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) checks. This streamlined process significantly reduces the time and resources required for exchanges to enter the tokenized securities market.

At launch, the API supports over 60 tokenized securities, encompassing a diverse range of assets including U.S. Treasury bonds, blue-chip equities, and ETFs. Furthermore, it boasts compatibility with tokens issued by prominent providers like Backed Finance, ensuring broad market coverage. Crucially, the offerings maintain legal compliance across all 30 EU and EEA countries, leveraging Assetera’s existing licenses.

This development marks a pivotal moment in the adoption of tokenized securities. Following Backed Finance’s successful launch of xStocks on Kraken, featuring over 55 tokenized stocks and ETFs, a competitive drive among exchanges to offer these products has emerged. Assetera’s API is poised to democratize access to this market. Previously, only major players could readily offer tokenized stocks, creating a two-tiered system. Assetera eliminates this disparity, enabling any exchange to legally launch tokenized securities within weeks, compared to the years it previously took. Assetera handles all back-end operations, including compliance, custody, and settlement.

Assetera is actively engaging with several top-20 global cryptocurrency exchanges and projects €1 billion ($1.1 billion) in trading volume during its first year of operation. The projected scale suggests a significant potential for tokenized securities to become a mainstream element of crypto investing within Europe. This innovative solution effectively bridges the gap between traditional finance and the crypto ecosystem, facilitating greater accessibility and adoption of tokenized assets across the European Union.
