BioSig, Streamex to Raise $1.1B for Gold Tokenization Initiative on Solana
BioSig Technologies (BSGM), a medical-technology company that recently merged with tokenization firm Streamex, announced a significant financing deal totaling up to $1.1 billion. This funding will support the company’s gold-backed treasury model and expand its tokenization platform for real-world assets (RWAs). The capital raise comprises $100 million in senior secured convertible debentures, offering a 4% interest rate and conversion rights into common shares, and a $1 billion equity line of credit allowing for common stock issuance over 36 months.
This financing strategy contrasts with recent trends of companies adopting crypto treasury models. BioSig is instead focusing on a gold-backed approach, capitalizing on the growing tokenization market, projected to reach multi-trillion dollar valuations in the coming years. The company intends to hold physical gold through a leading bullion bank, significantly denominating its balance sheet in gold rather than fiat currency.
Streamex, a key component of the merged entity, will leverage its Solana (SOL) blockchain-based platform to issue tokens backed by gold and other commodities. This initiative aims to enhance liquidity, transparency, and accessibility within the vast $142 trillion commodities market.
The announcement resulted in a significant initial drop in BSGM’s share price, reaching a low of $6.54 before stabilizing around $9, a 20% decrease for the day. This fluctuation likely stems from concerns about potential shareholder dilution due to the equity line of credit. Despite the price correction, the stock remains up approximately 600% since the merger announcement on May 5th, and the company currently boasts a market capitalization of roughly $1 billion.
BioSig CEO and Streamex co-founder Henry McPhie emphasized the company’s strategy, highlighting the combination of gold’s perceived value stability with blockchain technology’s innovation. This approach, he stated, creates a robust, high-return business model while aiming to revolutionize the commodities market’s liquidity, transparency, and accessibility.
