Bitcoin Cash Rally Accelerates on Whale Activity and Bullish Technical Signals
Bitcoin Cash (BCH) experienced a slight dip, trading at $482.54 on July 5th, a 0.23% decrease over the previous 24 hours. This follows a pullback from its recent eight-month high of $526.5 reached on July 1st. This peak represented a 75% increase over the past three months, fueled by market enthusiasm, whale accumulation, and speculative inflows. The surge was accompanied by a tripling of daily trading volume, exceeding 120,000 tokens exchanged within 24 hours. This buying interest stemmed largely from capital rotation into mid-cap cryptocurrencies as investors sought gains beyond major crypto assets during a period of broader market strength.
Despite the price rally, on-chain fundamentals remain weak. Daily active BCH addresses have fallen to a six-year low, indicating that the price increase is driven more by speculation than by increased network utility. However, technical indicators suggest further potential upside. A golden cross formation—where the 50-day moving average crossed above the 200-day moving average—appeared on BCH’s hourly chart in late June, a historically bullish signal. Adding to the speculative momentum, open interest in BCH derivatives rose 27.4% last week to $578 million. Analysts are closely monitoring the $478 to $508 range as a key support zone.
Further fueling speculation, IntoTheBlock reported a 122.45% increase in large whale transactions (over $100,000) involving 957,440 BCH tokens (approximately $482 million) on July 4th. This mirrors similar spikes preceding major price movements in February, May, and late June. A notable $5 million (10,000 BCH) transaction just before a massive Bitcoin movement added intrigue, possibly serving as a wallet access test before the transfer of 80,000 dormant BTC (over $8.5 billion).
The Bitcoin Cash Foundation released Knuth v0.68.0, unifying the node’s codebase and paving the way for future UTXO efficiency upgrades. While major adoption announcements are absent, smaller community projects continue exploring BCH-based micropayments and NFTs. Roger Ver’s continued advocacy for BCH as a scalable bitcoin alternative persists, though without accompanying new institutional product launches. Technical analysis shows BCH trading within a narrow range on July 4th and 5th, with strong support observed and resistance capping gains.
