Bitcoin May Consolidate in $120K-$130K, Here are 3 Reasons Why
CoinDesk analyst Omkar Godbole provides a daily market analysis of top tokens with CME futures.
Bitcoin (BTC): BTC recently exceeded $123,000, fueled by BlackRock’s IBIT breakout and a confluence of bullish factors: a pro-crypto U.S. President advocating for low interest rates alongside fiscal spending and stock market highs. Technical indicators like RSI and MACD remain bullish, and moving averages are stacked positively. A breakout in cumulative open interest on offshore exchanges would further solidify bullish sentiment. Prices are projected to test $130,000, the upper bound of an ascending channel, but consolidation between $120,000 and $130,000 is anticipated due to market makers’ long gamma positions at these strikes. This strategy aims to neutralize net exposure, potentially limiting price volatility, mirroring a similar dynamic observed earlier this month. Although DVOL (Deribit’s volatility measure) recently bottomed, a potential upswing could trigger a price correction given the current negative correlation between spot price and DVOL. The dollar index (DXY) recovery could cap BTC’s upside. Support levels are at $118,800, $116,650, and $112,000; resistance levels are at $130,000, $140,000, and $146,000.
Ethereum (ETH): Despite a 22% month-to-date gain, ETH is confined within an expanding channel. The daily stochastic indicator shows overbought conditions, suggesting a pullback is likely before a breakout towards $3,400. Support levels are at $2,905, $2,880, $2,739, and $2,600; resistance levels are at $3,067, $3,500, $3,570, and $4,000.
Solana (SOL): SOL experienced a dual bullish breakout, reinforced by Monday’s price recovery. A move above Friday’s high of $168 would strengthen the case for a rally to $200. Support levels are at $150 and $145; resistance levels are at $180, $190, and $200.
XRP: XRP’s weekly MACD histogram crossed above zero, signaling bullish sentiment and mirroring BTC’s pre-rally pattern last year. The 14-day RSI indicates strong bull momentum, suggesting a potential breakout above $3. Support levels are at $2.20, $1.90, and $1.60; resistance levels are at $3.00 and $3.40.
