Bitcoin Treasury Corporation Acquires 292 BTC, Prepares for Toronto Trading Debut

Bitcoin Treasury Corp. (BTCT), a Toronto-based provider of institutional lending and liquidity services, has initiated an aggressive bitcoin accumulation strategy. The company recently purchased 292.80 BTC for C$43 million (approximately $31.6 million), marking a significant step in its plan to build a substantial digital asset treasury. This strategic move positions bitcoin as both a long-term reserve asset and a core component of BTCT’s revenue generation model.

The acquired bitcoin holdings will be instrumental in supporting BTCT’s institutional loan business, enabling the company to offer innovative financial solutions within the digital asset ecosystem. This acquisition is fueled by the C$125 million secured through a recently completed brokered share offering. BTCT intends to leverage this capital, alongside any income derived from its BTC holdings, to expand its institutional-grade services.

The company emphasizes a commitment to disciplined risk management and maximizing shareholder value. Its ambition is to establish itself as a prominent player in the bitcoin-backed financial solutions market. BTCT’s shares are scheduled to commence trading on the TSX Venture Exchange on June 30th, following a reverse takeover of 2680083 Alberta Ltd. This merger serves as a streamlined alternative to a traditional initial public offering (IPO), utilizing 268 as a pre-existing shell company. This corporate maneuver allows BTCT to enter the public market efficiently.

The share offering attracted participation from several prominent financial institutions, including Canaccord Genuity, Stifel, National Bank Financial Markets, BMO Capital Markets, and CIBC Capital Markets, underscoring market confidence in BTCT’s strategy. Shares of the merged entity opened at C$10 on Thursday, although trading was immediately halted by the exchange. While neither BTCT nor 2680083 Alberta Ltd. had prior listings, this reverse takeover provides a faster route to public listing for BTCT. The company’s focus remains on delivering high-quality services and capitalizing on the growing opportunities within the bitcoin-driven financial landscape.
