Bitcoin, XRP Open Interest Nears Record High as Bull Market Pullback Unfolds

Bitcoin (BTC) experienced a 5% pullback to $116,800 after reaching record highs, a typical bull market correction. Profit-taking by long-term holders is a contributing factor. The market may revisit the May 22 high of $111,960, testing buying interest before further rallies. Technically, the bullish bias remains while prices stay within the ascending channel on the daily chart. However, the hourly chart shows a bearish trend below the Ichimoku cloud, though the oversold RSI (below 30) suggests a potential bounce. Open interest in BTC futures nears record highs, driven largely by offshore exchanges. Elevated volatility is anticipated. The MOVE index rebounded, a concerning sign as its spikes historically precede market volatility and financial tightening, potentially deepening the BTC pullback.

XRP (XRP) also pulled back from $3, mirroring BTC’s downtrend on the hourly chart. However, it holds support at the 100-hour SMA and Ichimoku cloud at $2.81. A breakout above this level suggests a return to the uptrend towards $3.4. Record high perpetual futures open interest and 15% annualized funding rates indicate strong leveraged bullish demand.

Ether (ETH) is consolidating within an expanding triangle. The overbought daily stochastic suggests limited short-term upside potential. A breakout is pending; however, a consolidation near resistance is more likely given the bullish bias indicated by the Ichimoku cloud and short-term SMAs. A breakout could target $3,400.

SOL’s price struggles to break above $168 resistance, despite a dual breakout on the daily chart. Failure to surpass this level twice indicates bearish pressure. A break above $168 confirms bullishness. Conversely, breaking below the $157 neckline support of the hourly double top pattern could trigger a decline to $146.
