Following the success of Manchester City’s existing digital art collections, the upcoming collaboration continues to build the Club’s presence and collector community in the NFT space.
‘City Breaks’ comprises five pieces by British 3D motion graphics artist, Perry Cooper, Gym Bag, Moon Dance, It’s in the Bag, On the Road and Precious Cargo. The collection uses everyday travel bags and cases to represent different aspects of Manchester City and the team’s relationship with its fans. ‘City Breaks’ is intended to encompass the excitement, commitment, expectation, and history of the team.
As a part of the drop, there will be a limited-edition collectors’ draw featuring a sixth artwork, Holdall Cityzens. Participation will be open to owners of artwork by Manchester City or Perry Cooper, and the winners of the draw will each receive one of the unique pieces.
The City Breaks collection will drop on MakersPlace on Thursday 11th August.
Nuria Tarré, Chief Marketing and Fan Experience Officer at City Football Group said:
“We’re incredibly pleased to build on the success of our NFT collections to date with this latest collection, as we continue to showcase the club’s innovative and creative approach as we grow our reputation as a collaborative and authentic brand in the digital art space.
“Perry Cooper’s signature style, combined with Manchester City IP, has created an outstanding collection of digital artworks and we are very pleased to have been able to collaborate with him on these pieces.”
Craig Palmer, MakersPlace co-founder and CEO, said:
“Continuing to partner with Premier League Champions, Manchester City and renowned artists like Perry Cooper gives us the opportunity to empower digital creators beyond the NFT and art space. It’s a privilege to collaborate with like-minded teams who find innovative ways to showcase unique pieces of digital art.”
Perry Cooper, who has produced the collection, added:
“I’m beyond excited to have been collaborating with Manchester City on this collection. I wanted to capture some of the sights, sounds, feelings, and atmosphere of the stands within each of these pieces. I’m honoured to be following on from the other great digital artists Man City has collaborated with previously. ‘City Breaks’ has been such fun to create and the team at Man City has been great to work with.”
NFTs are digital assets and collectibles. The authenticity, rarity, scarcity, ownership, and other properties of NFTs are independently guaranteed, verified, and secured on blockchain.
Unlike most digital content, which is temporarily provided as a service to users on a licensing basis, NFTs are truly ownable. An NFT is owned by its holder regardless of any decisions taken by any other party, including the NFT’s developer. Owners are free to do anything they want with their NFTs: they can sell them on a marketplace or trade them for other items.
Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) are not regulated instruments in the UK. The value of NFTs can go up as well as down. Capital Gains Tax may be payable on the sale of NFTs.
