Crypto Treasuries Expand as Public Companies Make Bold Monday Moves
Several major digital asset firms significantly expanded their cryptocurrency reserves this Monday, highlighting the growing institutional interest in blockchain-based assets. This surge in institutional investment is marked by notable announcements from BitMine Immersion Technologies (BMNR), Verb Technology (VERB), and Sequans Communications (SQNS).
BitMine Immersion Technologies, launched just 35 days ago, has rapidly amassed the world’s largest ether (ETH) treasury, holding 833,137 ETH, valued at over $2.9 billion. This aggressive acquisition strategy positions BMNR as the third-largest overall crypto treasury globally, trailing only MicroStrategy (MSTR) and Marathon Digital Holdings (MARA). The company boasts a strong investor base, including prominent figures like Bill Miller III, Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest, and major crypto firms such as Kraken, Galaxy, and Pantera. With daily trading volume averaging $1.6 billion, BMNR demonstrates significant liquidity, ranking 42nd among U.S. stocks. Their ambitious goal is to acquire 5% of ETH’s total supply, with future staking plans intended to generate yield-based profitability. BMNR shares experienced a 6% increase following these announcements.
Verb Technology, in a separate development, announced a substantial $558 million private placement to create the first publicly listed toncoin treasury. This initiative, partnered with Kingsway Capital, secured backing from over 110 institutional and crypto-native investors, including Vy Capital, Blockchain.com, and Ribbit Capital. The company will rebrand as TON Strategy Co. (TSC) and center its treasury around toncoin (TON), aiming to leverage Telegram’s integration of TON across its ecosystem to capitalize on increased crypto adoption within social media platforms. Manuel Stotz, President of the TON Foundation, and Peter Smith, CEO of Blockchain.com, are set to take on leadership roles. VERB stock surged by 65% on the news, while TON experienced an 8% decrease. The transaction is slated to close by August 7th.
Finally, Sequans Communications, a French 5G/IoT chipmaker, added 85 BTC to its holdings, increasing its total bitcoin reserves to 3,157 BTC for a total investment of $10 million. The company views bitcoin as a long-term treasury asset and plans to continue its strategic accumulation. Following the announcement, SQNS shares saw a 1% increase. These developments collectively paint a picture of robust institutional confidence in the future of cryptocurrencies.
