Crypto Treasury Firm ReserveOne Going Public in $1B SPAC Deal

ReserveOne, a newly formed digital asset management firm, is set to go public through a $1 billion merger with M3-Brigade Acquisition V Corp. (MBAV). This significant transaction, announced Tuesday, leverages $297.7 million in SPAC trust capital alongside a robust $750 million PIPE (private investment in public equity) commitment. The PIPE investment showcases strong support from prominent figures within the cryptocurrency industry, including Galaxy Digital, Kraken, Pantera Capital, Blockchain.com, and CC Capital. This collective investment underscores confidence in ReserveOne’s strategy and potential.

ReserveOne’s core strategy centers on building a diversified portfolio of digital assets. Bitcoin (BTC) will serve as the cornerstone of this portfolio, complemented by other significant cryptocurrencies such as ether (ETH) and solana (SOL). The firm intends to generate returns through a combination of institutional-grade staking and lending strategies, capitalizing on the inherent opportunities within the crypto market. Security is paramount, with Coinbase, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, entrusted with the custody of the platform’s secured Bitcoin holdings.

Leading the firm is Jaime Leverton, the former CEO of Hut 8, a well-established name in the crypto mining sector. He is joined by Sebastian Bea, previously the head of Coinbase Asset Management, serving as president. This experienced leadership team brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to ReserveOne. The board of directors further strengthens the firm’s credibility, featuring notable figures like Reeve Collins, Tether co-founder; Wilbur Ross, former U.S. Commerce Secretary; and John D’Agostino of Coinbase.

ReserveOne aims to introduce a new level of transparency and yield-focused discipline to the cryptocurrency investment landscape. Its target audience encompasses institutions, family offices, and public market investors seeking sophisticated and secure exposure to the digital asset market. The combined entity will trade under the ticker symbol “RONE” upon the anticipated closing of the deal in Q4 of this year. The merger represents a significant step towards mainstream adoption and institutionalization of the cryptocurrency investment space.
