EasyA Promises Even Bigger Hackathon After Record-Breaking Success at Consensus 2025

The EasyA Consensus Hackathon, held in Toronto from May 14-16, marked a significant milestone as the largest blockchain hackathon in North American history. Organized by brothers Phil and Dom Kwok, the event attracted over 1,000 meticulously vetted developers, showcasing their expertise through GitHub and LinkedIn profiles. This rigorous selection process contributed to the high quality of projects presented.

The hackathon offered substantial rewards: millions of dollars in funding from five blockchain networks: Aptos, Stellar, Polkadot, Bahamut, and Forte. Each network presented its own challenge; for example, Stellar focused on improving Web3 user experience. A notable highlight was Universal Studios inviting the winning Aptos project, ApTap, to present their work to executives in Orlando.

EasyA, a leading Web3 learning app with over one million developers, has organized over 30 hackathons since 2019. Their approach emphasizes long-term project support, ensuring continued development and value creation within the crypto ecosystem. Winning projects receive funding distributed over time, encouraging sustained growth.

The Toronto hackathon yielded diverse winning projects. ApTap, simplifying Aptos wallet access, won the Aptos track. Stellar’s winner, CycleBuddy, is a menstrual cycle tracking app with token rewards. Polkadot’s winner, Sutanpu, allows users to mint NFTs of travel locations. Bahamut selected NameVault, a decentralized naming service, and Forte awarded GASS, a protocol streamlining airdrop allocation.

Additional winning projects included AptosAI Guard, MMO, FailSafe, Borrowhood, Automated Savings Policy, OrbitSwap, DotStriker, Merge Fund, Proctodot, SmartTrust, Ratezilla, MilkyPay, Fast Credit, VYB, and MLOps, demonstrating the breadth and innovation within the hackathon’s scope. The Kwoks plan an even larger event in Miami next year.
