Lingerie Fighting Championships to Add $2M in Bitcoin to Treasury Ahead of Expansion to UK

Lingerie Fighting Championships (LFC), a Las Vegas-based women’s MMA league, has announced a strategic move into the Bitcoin treasury trend, mirroring the approach adopted by numerous companies globally. The company plans to acquire $230,000 worth of Bitcoin within the next 30 days, with a potential increase to $2 million over the following six months.

This decision comes at a significant time for LFC, coinciding with its expansion into the UK market. The company is set to host two sold-out events: LFC43: Sindependence Day 2 in London on July 4th, and LFC44: Underground Knockouts in Cardiff on July 6th.

While the official press release lacked explanation for the Bitcoin adoption, CEO Shaun Donnelly clarified the reasoning in an interview with CoinDesk. Donnelly expressed a belief in Bitcoin’s significant long-term growth potential, stating that LFC aimed to capitalize on this opportunity while it remains accessible. He compared the investment to real estate, highlighting that even a small initial investment provides market entry and avoids the regret of missing out on potential gains.

This strategic move differs from some Bitcoin treasury firms that have drastically restructured their operations to focus solely on Bitcoin acquisition and fundraising. LFC’s approach appears more akin to Tesla’s strategy, potentially involving the conversion of existing cash reserves into Bitcoin. This suggests a less disruptive approach, allowing LFC to maintain its core business while diversifying its assets. The company’s expansion into the UK market adds another layer of complexity, indicating a potential correlation between international expansion and Bitcoin treasury adoption. LFC’s entry into the Bitcoin treasury trend signals a growing interest in Bitcoin among diverse companies, highlighting its increasing recognition as a viable asset class. The move could be interpreted as a hedge against inflation or a strategic diversification of assets, aligning with other companies’ increasing adoption of Bitcoin as a long-term investment strategy. The success of this venture will be closely observed, particularly within the context of LFC’s simultaneous international expansion.
