The world-famous young tech entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg has been featured as a supervillain in an upcoming NFT collection-inspired Web3 game. The game is set to release later this year or early next year.
Though the news would not be appetizing for Zuckerberg, the game for sure is intriguing people in the Web3 space. The Rabbit hole is soon to launch a game, featuring characters posed to defend Web3 from the corporate overlord, Metazuckbot.
The gameplay involves Metazuckbot who runs the in-game ZuckCorp where the mischievous but cute bunny gang from the My Pet Hooligan NFT collection plays a vital role.
These NFT characters, as per the storyline, were previously imprisoned and forced to mine Karrot but are now free. They roam the city alongside the villain’s former slaves ZuckBots. ZuckBots is also an NFT collection that was released earlier this week.
The indie animation technology company AMGI Studios is behind the development of this game. The company has also received funding from the likes of Yield Guild Games, Emfarsis, Delphi Digital, and BitKraft Ventures.
Its 50-strong team consists of developers who worked on well-known games including Call of Duty and Medal of Honor, as well as closely worked with artists and animators from Pixar and Disney.
Considering the background of the team, the game appears to be promising. CCO and producer Luke Paglia stated that Zuckbot-related lore is focused on the fact that big corporations are mining our data and making the users the prey for them to profit off of.
Basically, with this game, “we are tapping into the ethos of what we see happening around us,” he concluded.
On the other hand, Zuckerberg is also actively working towards its metaverse efforts. During the latest Meta Connect conference, He made a statement that an open, interoperable metaverse is ‘Better for Everyone’.
He addressed his staff that Meta is in a “very deep, philosophical competition” with Apple to build the future of the metaverse. Clearly, Zuckerberg is well-aware of his stance among the Web3 community and there would be initiatives that will try to push Meta forward.
For now, all we can see is him being cast as corporate overlord, Metazuckbot, which makes it all the more controversial.
