NEAR Protocol Surges 10% Before Profit-Taking Halts Rally

NEAR Token Consolidates After Bitwise ETP Launch-Fueled Rally

The NEAR Protocol token (NEAR) experienced a temporary halt in its upward trajectory following a significant rally spurred by the announcement of a new exchange-traded product (ETP) from Bitwise Asset Management. The Bitwise NEAR Staking ETP, launching on Germany’s Xetra exchange, offers institutional investors regulated access to NEAR staking rewards without the complexities of managing private keys or nodes. Illia Polosukhin, highlighting the ETP’s significance, stated that it provides compliant access to the NEAR ecosystem and its user-owned AI capabilities with full price transparency.

The initial price surge, reaching a high of approximately $2.36, resulted in a subsequent profit-taking phase. However, technical analysis reveals a robust support level established at $2.26, suggesting the underlying uptrend remains intact. This support level was confirmed by above-average trading volume during a 24-hour period. The price briefly broke through the $2.30 resistance level before encountering selling pressure. A sharp sell-off occurred within a 60-minute window, marked by a significant volume spike exceeding 310,000 units, establishing a new support zone between $2.26 and $2.27. The closing price at $2.26 indicates continued short-term bearish pressure.

The broader cryptocurrency market also exhibited volatility. The CoinDesk 20 Index (CD20), a benchmark tracking 20 leading crypto assets, demonstrated a 2% jump before a late-session selloff. The CD20 experienced a significant price swing within a 24-hour period, reaching a high of $1,811.11 before retracting to $1,791.50. The mid-session rally showcased strong buying momentum, particularly during the 09:00 and 13:00 hours, hinting at potential institutional accumulation despite the later profit-taking. This suggests underlying market strength even amidst short-term corrections. The NEAR token’s consolidation around the $2.26 support level, coupled with the CD20’s volatility, paints a picture of a market in flux, with further price movements potentially dependent on broader market sentiment and institutional activity.
