Rain, Toku Debut Stablecoin Payrolls for Workers in Over 100 Countries
Rain, a stablecoin-focused payments platform, has partnered with Toku, a digital asset compliance provider, to revolutionize global payroll with real-time stablecoin payments. This innovative system enables companies to seamlessly fund and settle employee payroll in stablecoins, instantly and across international borders. Crucially, the system is designed to fully comply with local labor and tax regulations in over 100 countries.
At launch, employers can utilize Circle’s USDC, Ripple’s RLUSD, and Global Dollar’s USDG for payroll disbursement. Rain plans to expand stablecoin options based on customer demand and rigorous compliance reviews. The integration with popular payroll systems like ADP, Workday, and Gusto ensures a smooth transition for businesses. Companies can opt into the stablecoin payroll feature within a week, minimizing disruption to existing workflows.
This initiative leverages the growing adoption of stablecoins for everyday transactions beyond the cryptocurrency sphere. Stablecoins, pegged to fiat currencies, offer significant advantages over traditional payment methods: lower costs, faster transfer speeds, and programmable functionalities. The recent progress of the GENIUS Act in the U.S., aiming to establish clear regulatory frameworks for stablecoins, further supports this trend.
Rain’s new service empowers companies to rethink payroll strategies. The system facilitates earned wage access, allowing employees to receive payment immediately upon job completion. This addresses a long-standing need for modernization in payroll processes, as highlighted by Rain CEO and co-founder Farooq Malik: “Payroll has remained one of the last major financial flows stuck in outdated systems.” By combining Rain’s blockchain infrastructure with Toku’s compliance expertise, this collaboration brings the efficiency and benefits of stablecoins to a fundamental financial transaction – the paycheck. This development promises to significantly streamline global payroll operations, offering both employers and employees a more efficient and transparent payment solution.
