Sky’s Grove Expands to Avalanche With $250M RWA Plan, Partnering With Centrifuge, Janus

Grove, a credit protocol within the Sky (formerly MakerDAO) ecosystem, is expanding its operations to the Avalanche (AVAX) network. This expansion involves a significant financial commitment: up to $250 million will be allocated to the development and support of tokenized credit products. This initiative marks a key step in bridging the gap between decentralized finance (DeFi) and traditional finance (TradFi).

The investment strategy focuses on the Janus Henderson Anemoy AAA CLO Fund (JAAA), a fund issued through Centrifuge, a blockchain platform specializing in the tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs). The selection of Janus Henderson, a firm managing $373 billion in assets, underscores the growing interest from major TradFi players in the Avalanche ecosystem. This partnership represents one of the largest integrations of traditional finance into Avalanche’s RWA ecosystem to date.

Further solidifying this collaboration, Centrifuge is also introducing the Janus Henderson Anemoy Treasury Fund (JTRSY), a token backed by U.S. Treasury assets. This development aligns with the broader trend of tokenizing traditional assets, bringing credit, bonds, and other financial instruments onto blockchain networks. The benefits of this approach include increased transparency, efficiency, and accessibility.

According to Grove Labs co-founder Mark Phillips, the synergy between Grove’s programmable capital tools, Avalanche’s high throughput, and Centrifuge’s tokenization infrastructure establishes a robust foundation for the development of scalable on-chain credit markets. Avalanche’s strategic focus on institutional adoption of tokenized assets is further demonstrated by its recent involvement in tokenizing $240 billion worth of property deeds in a New Jersey county.

Grove’s team boasts a strong background in finance and technology, with alumni from prominent organizations such as Deloitte, Citigroup, and BlockTower. Leveraging their experience in helping MakerDAO expand into tokenized Treasuries, Grove aims to replicate this success in the structured credit market. The protocol’s goal is to provide programmable access to multi-trillion-dollar markets, catering to both crypto-native and traditional investors. This expansion represents a significant step towards a more integrated and efficient financial landscape.
