SOL Surges 8%, With Its CME Futures Volume Hitting an All-Time High

Solana’s SOL token experienced a significant price surge, reaching $145.47—a 7.63% increase in 24 hours. This rally followed a sharp rebound from $133.55, fueled by robust futures activity and high trading volumes, particularly around 17:00 and 22:00. CoinDesk Research’s technical analysis indicates a strong upward trend.

A key factor driving the surge was the all-time high in CME SOL futures volume, reaching 1.75 million contracts. This signifies increased institutional interest and aggressive positioning by sophisticated investors as the price approached the $145 mark. The high volume, especially the 3.92M volume spike at 22:00, points to significant market participation.

Beyond the immediate price action, a long-term development adds to the positive sentiment. Kazakhstan launched the Solana Economic Zone Kazakhstan (SEZ KZ), Central Asia’s first Solana-based initiative. This collaboration between the Solana Foundation and Kazakh government agencies aims to establish Kazakhstan as a Web3 hub.

The SEZ KZ focuses on three strategic pillars: tokenized capital markets, Web3 talent development, and startup onboarding. The tokenized capital markets initiative, involving AIX, the Solana Foundation, Jupiter, and Intebix, will introduce tokenized financial instruments into Kazakhstan’s infrastructure. A nationwide blockchain education program, in partnership with universities and Astana Hub, will foster Web3 talent. Finally, the initiative will attract international Web3 firms through supportive infrastructure, regulatory clarity, and business incentives.

Technically, SOL’s price action shows strong support levels around $132.43 and $143.60, with resistance near $146.55. The price consolidated between $143 and $146, exhibiting a V-shaped recovery from a minor dip. Short-term support sits between $143.60 and $143.80, while immediate resistance is at $144.30. The overall trend suggests a bullish momentum in the short term, driven by both market speculation and the significant long-term implications of the Kazakhstan initiative.
