Solana Treasury Firm Expands SOL Holdings and Staking Strategy With $2.7M Purchase
Solana (SOL) received a significant boost in confidence on Thursday, July 6th, as Florida-based DeFi Development Corp (DFDV) announced a substantial increase in its SOL treasury. The company acquired an additional 17,760 SOL tokens, totaling approximately $2.72 million at an average price of $153.10 per token. This strategic move reinforces DFDV’s long-term commitment to accumulating and staking SOL, maximizing returns through staking rewards and validator fees.
This acquisition brings DFDV’s total SOL holdings and equivalents to 640,585, representing a value of roughly $98.1 million. With 14,740,779 shares outstanding, this translates to an impressive 0.042 SOL per share, or approximately $6.65 per share based on the day’s price. All newly acquired SOL tokens will be staked across various validators, including DFDV’s own infrastructure within the Solana network. This direct participation strengthens Solana’s decentralization and operational resilience.
DFDV distinguishes itself as the first publicly traded company to center its treasury strategy around Solana. Beyond accumulating and staking SOL, the company actively participates in decentralized finance (DeFi) opportunities within the Solana ecosystem. This strategy provides shareholders with direct exposure to SOL’s performance while concurrently supporting Solana’s application-layer development.
At the time of writing, SOL was trading at approximately $150.75, experiencing a slight 1.6% dip in the previous 24 hours according to CoinDesk Research’s technical analysis. This minor decline contrasts with a slight 0.13% increase in the broader crypto market as measured by the CoinDesk 20 Index (CD20).
Technical analysis reveals a volatile trading range for SOL between $156.28 and $150.04 between July 2nd and July 3rd, indicating a 4.15% volatility. Resistance at $156 and support at $152 were observed, with a notable selloff at 15:35 UTC resulting in a price drop to $150.44 on high volume. However, a subsequent recovery indicates buying pressure at the $150.35 support level. The overall technical picture suggests a period of consolidation for SOL.
