Strategy Books $14B Q2 Bitcoin Profit, Sets $4.2B STRD Preferred ATM Offering
MicroStrategy (MSTR), under the leadership of Michael Saylor, anticipates a substantial second-quarter gain of $14.05 billion on its Bitcoin holdings. This positive financial outcome is attributed to the significant price appreciation of Bitcoin, which rose from approximately $82,000 to $108,000 during the three-month period ending June 30. The company’s holdings consist of over 500,000 Bitcoin.
To bolster its financial position and fund future endeavors, MicroStrategy actively engaged in various capital market activities during the second quarter. These activities resulted in net proceeds of $6.8 billion, obtained through preferred stock offerings and at-the-market sales of Class A common stock. As of June 30, the company retains considerable capacity for future issuances, with significant amounts remaining under its various at-the-market (ATM) programs: $18.1 billion under the 2025 Common ATM, $20.5 billion under the STRK ATM, and $1.9 billion under the STRF ATM.
Further expanding its capital-raising strategies, MicroStrategy announced a sales agreement to issue and sell up to $4.2 billion of its 10% Series A Perpetual Stride Preferred Stock (STRD) through an at-the-market offering program. The company intends to sell STRD stock strategically over time, carefully considering prevailing market prices and trading volumes.
The proceeds generated from these ATM programs will be allocated to a variety of corporate purposes. These include the acquisition of additional Bitcoin, supporting working capital requirements, and potentially distributing dividends to holders of its 10% Series A Perpetual Stride Preferred Stock and 8.00% Series A Perpetual Strike Preferred Stock.
Since its launch on June 11, STRD shares have exhibited a positive performance, increasing by 6%. However, despite this positive news regarding its financial performance and capital-raising initiatives, MSTR experienced a slight dip of 1.2% in premarket trading on Monday, mirroring a minor decline in Bitcoin’s price from its late-week high, currently trading at approximately $108,300. This demonstrates the close correlation between MSTR’s stock performance and the price fluctuations of Bitcoin.
