Swiss Bank Sygnum Launches Regulated SUI Custody and Trading for Institutions
Sygnum, a Swiss digital asset bank with licenses across Switzerland, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Luxembourg, and Liechtenstein, is enhancing its institutional services for the Sui blockchain. This expansion provides professional clients with comprehensive access to Sui through a suite of regulated products.
The bank’s offerings include institutional-grade custody solutions ensuring the secure storage of SUI tokens. These holdings are maintained off Sygnum’s balance sheet, providing bankruptcy remoteness for added client protection. Furthermore, Sygnum facilitates both spot and derivatives trading for SUI, allowing clients to engage in various trading strategies.
A key addition is the upcoming launch of staking services, enabling clients to earn rewards by participating in the Sui network’s consensus mechanism. This functionality is expected to be available within the coming weeks. Complementing staking, Sygnum plans to introduce SUI collateral-backed Lombard loans in the fourth quarter of the year. These loans offer clients access to capital while utilizing their SUI holdings as collateral.
Sygnum’s initiative is built upon its July 2025 integration of SUI, marking its position as the first Swiss bank to offer full support for the token. This strategic partnership with the Sui Foundation aims to cater to the growing demand from banks, asset managers, and high-net-worth individuals seeking regulated exposure to Sui and broader blockchain ecosystems.
The collaboration is mutually beneficial. The Sui Foundation benefits from Sygnum’s established infrastructure and regulatory compliance, providing a trusted gateway for institutional investors. Sygnum, in turn, expands its offerings into a promising blockchain project, aligning with its mission to bridge traditional finance and digital assets.
Sui, developed by Mysten Labs, distinguishes itself through parallel transaction processing, mirroring cloud-based service scalability. This technology underpins Sui’s support for decentralized finance (DeFi), instant payments, real-world asset tokenization, and gaming applications. Its early entry into the BTCfi sector further enhances its appeal, enabling Bitcoin holders to participate in DeFi securely. Sygnum’s comprehensive suite of services, ranging from regulated banking and asset management to tokenization and B2B solutions, positions it well to serve the evolving needs of the digital asset market. At press time, SUI traded at $3.84, reflecting a 4.5% increase over the previous 24 hours.
