This collaboration will integrate xAI’s Grok AI service directly into the Telegram platform. The one-year agreement is valued at $300 million, encompassing both cash and equity payments to Telegram, alongside a 50% revenue share from all xAI subscriptions sold through the Telegram app. Telegram’s founder, Pavel Durov, highlighted the mutually beneficial nature of this collaboration on X, stating, “Together, we win!”

This strategic partnership arrives as Telegram is concurrently pursuing a substantial $1.5 billion bond offering, secured by prominent investors including BlackRock, Mubadala, and Citadel. The funds raised will primarily be allocated towards repurchasing debt from a previous bond issuance in 2021. This financial maneuver underscores Telegram’s robust financial standing, further solidified by its impressive 2024 performance: a $540 million profit on $1.4 billion in revenue.

The announcement has had a significant impact on the TON token, the native cryptocurrency of the TON Network, a project developed by Telegram. The TON token experienced a remarkable 18.5% surge in the 24 hours following the news, with the price increase beginning two hours prior to the official announcement. The price continued its upward trajectory after the official announcement, rising from $3.28 to $3.55.
