The Blockchain Group Buys Nearly $70M Worth of Bitcoin, Boosting Total Holdings to 1,471 BTC
The Blockchain Group (ALTBG), a Euronext Growth Paris-listed company and Europe’s first Bitcoin treasury company, significantly expanded its Bitcoin holdings. The company recently acquired 624 BTC for approximately €60.2 million ($68.8 million), a move facilitated by two successful financing rounds.
The first round, a private placement on May 20, 2025, raised €6.8 million, allowing ALTBG to purchase 80 BTC. This capital injection was followed by a larger convertible bond issuance on May 26, 2025. This issuance, subscribed by Fulgur Ventures, generated €55.3 million, enabling the acquisition of an additional 544 BTC.
Combining these acquisitions with existing holdings, The Blockchain Group and its Luxembourg subsidiary now possess a total of 1,471 BTC, valued at approximately €131.9 million, representing an average cost of €89,687 per Bitcoin. This substantial increase in Bitcoin holdings underscores the company’s commitment to a Bitcoin-centric investment strategy.
ALTBG’s financial performance in 2025 has been exceptionally strong. The company reports a remarkable year-to-date (YTD) Bitcoin yield of 1,097.6%. This impressive return is attributable to a net gain of 439 BTC and a corresponding value increase of €42.3 million. These figures highlight the significant profitability derived from ALTBG’s Bitcoin investment strategy.
The dual financing approach employed by ALTBG, combining a private placement with a convertible bond issuance, demonstrates a flexible and effective strategy for capital acquisition.
