Trump-Linked Truth Social Plans Crypto ETF as Digital Asset Franchise Expands
Donald Trump’s Media & Technology Group (DJT) has submitted a registration statement (S-1) to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a new cryptocurrency exchange-traded fund (ETF). This “Truth Social Crypto Blue Chip ETF” represents the latest venture in the Trump brand’s foray into the digital asset market. The ETF aims to track a diversified portfolio of five cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Solana (SOL), XRP, and Cronos (CRO).
The fund’s asset allocation demonstrates a focus on the two largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. Bitcoin and Ether will constitute 85% of the portfolio, with a weighted allocation favoring Bitcoin. Solana, Cronos, and XRP will make up the remaining 15%, allocated at 8%, 5%, and 2% respectively. This diversified approach aims to provide exposure to both established and emerging digital assets.
Yorkville America Digital, a familiar partner from previous Trump Media ETF filings, will act as the asset manager for this new fund. Their previous collaborations include filings for a combined Bitcoin and Ether ETF and a standalone Bitcoin ETF. The SEC’s acknowledgment of the application on Monday signifies the commencement of their official review process.
Crypto.com’s Foris DAX Trust Company, a reputable custodian specializing in digital asset safeguarding, has been selected to ensure the security of the underlying crypto assets held within the ETF. The S-1 filing is one of two essential documents required for ETF approval. The next critical step involves the exchange’s submission of a Form 19b-4 to the SEC. This legally obligates the SEC to adhere to a specific review timeline.
This marks at least the third attempt by Trump Media or affiliated entities to introduce a crypto ETF, indicating a strategic ambition to establish a significant presence in the cryptocurrency investment landscape. The success of this endeavor will depend on the SEC’s review and approval process, as well as market demand for a Trump-branded crypto investment product. The initiative highlights the ongoing convergence of traditional finance and the evolving cryptocurrency market, showcasing the growing interest of established figures in the digital asset space.
