U.S. President Donald Trump’s Social Media Firm Truth Social To Launch Spot Bitcoin ETF
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), through its NYSE Arca platform, has submitted a proposal to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a novel Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF). This ETF, intended to track the price of Bitcoin (BTC), is a collaborative effort between NYSE Arca and Yorkville America Digital, a crypto asset manager partnered with Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the parent company of the social media platform Truth Social.
The proposal, filed as a 19b-4 document, initiates the regulatory review process for the ETF. This type of filing is a standard procedure for self-regulatory organizations (SROs) like NYSE Arca, outlining proposed rule changes. A subsequent S-1 filing, also required, will further formalize the proposal and provide additional details. The proposed ETF would trade under the name “Truth Social Bitcoin ETF,” directly associating the investment vehicle with President Donald Trump’s media company.
The custodian for the fund, should it receive SEC approval, will be Foris DAX Trust Company. This firm already holds a significant custodial role within the cryptocurrency industry, serving as custodian for Crypto.com’s assets. This established relationship lends a degree of credibility and reassurance to the proposed ETF’s operational security.
This filing marks a significant development in the ongoing efforts to establish Bitcoin ETFs in the United States. The involvement of a prominent media company like TMTG adds a layer of public attention and potential investor interest to this particular proposal. The SEC’s review process will now determine the viability and regulatory compliance of the “Truth Social Bitcoin ETF,” a decision that could significantly impact the landscape of Bitcoin investment products in the American financial markets. The approval hinges on the SEC’s assessment of several factors, including the fund’s structure, risk management, and adherence to securities regulations. The outcome will be closely watched by industry participants and investors alike.
