What Are Traders Saying as Solana Reclaims Spotlight? ETH, DOGE, ADA See Profit-Taking

Ethereum (ETH) surged past $3,770 over the weekend, fueled by capital flowing from Bitcoin (BTC) into other major cryptocurrencies. This continues a July trend of steady Bitcoin gains alongside significant breakouts in Layer 1 and DeFi tokens. Bitcoin remained above $117,400, experiencing a slight 1% increase in 24 hours. Other tokens like XRP, BNB, DOGE, and ADA showed mixed performance as traders took profits, while Solana’s SOL jumped 8% to $203, its highest since late February. This surge was partly attributed to the launch of the Block Assembly Marketplace (BAM) by Jito, a significant Solana ecosystem player. DeFi blue-chip tokens, including Uniswap and Aave, saw impressive gains of 20-30% in the past week.

Jeff Mei, COO at BTSE, cites strong ETF inflows and optimism surrounding the GENIUS Act—a bill aiming to clarify DeFi regulations—as contributing factors to this market movement. He highlights a mass rotation into Ethereum, explaining its sustained rally, while noting Bitcoin’s continued strength but acknowledging the shift in momentum towards Ethereum. Record inflows into Ethereum ETFs support this observation. With ETH still nearly 25% below its all-time high, swing traders see a clear target for potential gains.

As Bitcoin cools near recent highs, fund managers are shifting capital into Ether, anticipating a similar breakout. This optimism is partly fueled by ETH’s increasing presence in institutional portfolios and accelerating inflows into U.S. spot ETFs. Nassar Al Achkar, chief strategy officer at CoinW, anticipates further ETH gains against BTC due to institutional support and fear of missing out (FOMO) on a potential surge mirroring Bitcoin’s recent rise.

However, concerns are emerging regarding a potential resurgence of inflation. Long-dated yields remain high across major economies, and inflation breakevens—indicators of future price pressures—have reached multi-year highs. Augustine Fan, head of insights at SignalPlus, notes the return of inflation expectations, loose financial conditions, and the crypto market’s participation in this FOMO sentiment. The overall market sentiment suggests a period of positive momentum, though the long-term outlook remains uncertain.
