XRP Ledger Brings Token Escrow, Other Upgrades for DEXs in New Release

RippleX has released rippled version 2.5.0, a significant upgrade to the XRP Ledger’s reference implementation. This release introduces seven key amendments currently open for voting within the XRP Ledger’s governance process. Amendments require support from over 80% of trusted validators over a two-week period to be implemented.

A notable addition is “TokenEscrow,” enabling escrow functionality for IOUs and multipurpose tokens, enhancing the platform’s flexibility for various token types. “Batch” allows for the atomic execution of grouped transactions, improving efficiency and reducing transaction costs. For regulatory compliance, “PermissionedDEX” grants DEX operators greater control over participant access. The AMMv1_3 amendment strengthens Automated Market Maker (AMM) risk management by introducing invariant checks, ensuring adherence to crucial financial rules.

Addressing long-standing community requests, “EnforceNFTokenTrustlineV2” prevents unauthorized NFT transfers, bolstering security for non-fungible tokens on the XRP Ledger. “PayChanCancelAfter” prevents the unintentional creation of expired payment channels, improving the reliability of payment channel operations.

Beyond the amendments, the 2.5.0 release includes improvements to transaction relay logic, network input/output capacity, and multi-signature simulation accuracy. XRPL Commons has also been integrated as a new Bootstrap Cluster, further decentralizing the network and enhancing its stability.

RippleX urges validators to upgrade promptly to ensure uninterrupted service. This update underscores the XRP Ledger’s ongoing evolution into a more versatile and compliant platform, catering to both decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and enterprise-level deployments requiring regulatory awareness. The enhancements reflect a commitment to enhancing security, efficiency, and regulatory compliance within the XRP ecosystem. The timing of this release is noteworthy, coinciding with increased interest in XRP spot crypto ETFs, as suggested by Bloomberg’s analysis predicting high approval odds for filings related to XRP, SOL, and DOGE.
