Zama Raises $57M, Becomes First Unicorn Involved With Fully Homomorphic Encryption
Zama, a leader in fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) for blockchains, secured $57 million in Series B funding. This round, co-led by Blockchange Ventures and Pantera Capital, brings Zama’s total funding to over $150 million and establishes it as the first FHE unicorn, valued at over $1 billion.
Fully homomorphic encryption allows for private data usage, a crucial feature for sensitive blockchain and AI applications. The funding coincides with the launch of Zama’s public testnet and will fuel its mainnet deployment, ecosystem growth, and ongoing research.
Zama’s protocol simplifies the development of encrypted decentralized applications (dApps), eliminating the need for extensive cryptographic expertise. This opens doors to diverse use cases within the blockchain space. These include confidential stablecoin issuance, secure asset tokenization, private identity verification, and private governance mechanisms within network states.
