Cristiano Ronaldo has been ridiculed by fans for promoting his new NFT collection just hours after accusing Manchester United of being a ‘marketing club’.
In an explosive tell-all interview with Piers Morgan that is due to air in full on Wednesday and Thursday, Ronaldo revealed that he has ‘no respect‘ for United boss Erik Ten Hag, while also hitting out at former team-mates Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville.
He then turned his attention to United’s owners, the Glazer family, claiming: ‘Manchester [United] is a marketing club, they will get its money from the marketing, the sports they don’t really care, in my opinion.’
After making these controversial comments, Ronaldo ironically took to Twitter to announce that he has a new Non-Fungible Token (NFT) collection for purchase that will be available on Friday.
‘My NFT collection is coming on November 18, exclusively on @binance,’ he tweeted.
‘This is your chance to join my Web3 community and own iconic moments from my career.
‘Sign up now with code RONALDO to prepare, and receive a surprise when the collection drops.’

Fans have been reacting to his post, with many critical of the Portuguese star and accusing him of being a hypocrite.

Another fan went down a similar route, hinting that Ronaldo is now doing his own marketing
‘”Man United is a marketing club”!!! What’s this tweet about??’ one incredulous fan asked.
Other fans questioned the timing of Ronaldo’s tweet, given that it came so soon after his outburst about United.
‘All of this to try and sell an NFT,’ one fan posted alongside a face palm emoji.
One fan has ridiculed Ronaldo for tweeting about his NFT collection right after his interview where he slammed his treatment at United
‘Bro caused a whole scene at his company and then dropped an NFT collection!’ another fan wrote.
Since excerpts of his interview with Morgan aired earlier this week, Ronaldo has joined up with his Portugal team-mates ahead of the World Cup which starts on Sunday.
The 37-year-old seems to have work to do to win some of them over as well, after a video emerged of United team-mate Bruno Fernandes giving him a frosty welcome in the dressing room on Monday.
