The diversity and depth of the work that the Water & Music DAO is doing continue to astound. Cherie Hu is the impressive face of the organization, but there are also dozens of other active members digging deep into how NFTs, DOAs, the metaverse, and all things web3 are reshaping the music industry.

Water & Music is the only group that I know of that is consistently doing the difficult and time-consuming work of in-depth interviews, surveys and much more to truly understand not just what’s worth paying attention to but why.
If you haven’t both signed up for their free newsletter and started supporting them as a paid member then you are essentially saying that you’re joining the web3 music revolution blindfolded and wearing earplugs.
In the latest example of an NFT-as-a-fan club, Spinnin’ Records launched the first NFT project by DJ Tiësto, and the $100 animated gif NFTs sold out immediately.
Each includes VIP perks including immediate access to unreleased Tiësto music and many more future goodies.
TapeHeads is building a community of 10,000 music fans who collect cassette tapes.
Holders of the TapeHead token can “help establish a music metaverse, a virtual-reality world, with their unique TapeHead” for an initial offering of 0.03 ETH ($57.00).
The first 2500 token holders also receive a limited-edition TapeHeads avatar for the Sandbox metaverse.
ProtoHeads will produce three distinct NFT collections: TapeHeads, VinylHeads, and DiscHeads each with its own set of exclusive perks. VinylHeads and DiscHeads will also have a restricted number of tokens.
Since going live last week the KYLE and Opulous full album MFT (Music Fungible Token) sale reached its first goal of over $150,000,
Fans will own one of the first full-album MFTs that are SEC-compliant. With a minimum investment of $200, the MFT has currently raised almost $165,000 from 300 fans/investors.
Opulous’ previous MFT drops featuring artists Lil Pump and Ard Adz both sold out within hours of going live
Upon its release, KYLE’s It’s Not So Bad hit the Top 10 Albums Debut Spotify Charts with over 7 million streams in its first week. Since It’s Not So Bad has already been released, investors will immediately start earning a portion of the album’s music royalty revenue together with KYLE, earning money whenever any of its songs are played on streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and even Tik Tok.
“I wanted to release a whole MFT album with Opulous so that my fans and I can get closer to a model of becoming successful as a unit, redefining success together,” KYLE explains. “Sharing this experience with fans and maybe even friends and family is a valuable thing. I don’t think anything will be able to match the feeling as we cross the finish line together.”
