The NHL will be able to create a range of unique NFT projects due to this multi-year relationship. And through this, they can offer brand-new chances for devoted followers or collectors to grow their collections.
The NHL claims that it will enable users to buy, sell, acquire, and trade never-before-offered objects from NHL history. The Sweet-operated NHL marketplace will offer a special and satisfying interaction experience for the entire network of NHL.
CEO of Sweet, Tom Mizzone, stated that:
We’re honored to be partnering on an industry-first launch with an organization as globally renowned as the NHL. Working closely with the League and the Associations.
He added that utilizing in-play gamification establishes a really interesting and distinctive connection between artifacts and experiences. As a result, they have selected some “aesthetically spectacular” action-packed moments.
Nevertheless, When the 2022–2023 season begins, the NHL’s Sweet marketplace is anticipated to launch in October.
According to NHL’s statement:
The stand-alone NHL platform custom-built for this program by Sweet will showcase current and historic moments as well as iconic elements of the game in the form of non-fungible tokens.
Moreover, a player’s performance will have an impact on some of the NFTs, which will likewise be dynamic and alter over time. It may also include surprise packs of NFTs that may be seen in 3D interactive trophy chambers or cinematic game clips from past and present NHL seasons.
This category-exclusive relationship will be the first of its kind. The announcement asserts that the NHL, NHLPA, and NHLAA have joined together for the first time ever to provide NFTs in the form of recent and older video clips and artifacts from all throughout the League, highlighting top players and NHL luminaries of the past and present.
