Pendle’s TVL Hits Record $8.3B After Yield-Trading Platform Debut
Pendle Protocol has experienced remarkable growth, reaching a record-breaking Total Value Locked (TVL) of $8.27 billion. This surge is directly correlated with the recent launch of its innovative yield-trading platform, Boros, and the subsequent 45% increase in the value of its native token, PENDLE, reaching $5.6.
Boros represents a significant advancement in decentralized finance (DeFi). It packages yields into tradable on-chain assets called Yield Units (YUs), enabling traders to take long or short positions on funding rates. This opens doors to sophisticated trading strategies, such as hedging floating funding payments into fixed rates or capitalizing on high yields during market volatility. The platform’s initial success is evident in the rapid influx of capital, with over $1.1 million in WETH and $750,000 in WBTC deposited into Boros vaults within its first two days.
This activity has significantly boosted Pendle’s Arbitrum deployment, showcasing increased user engagement. The number of active addresses has surged to 1,428, exceeding the monthly average considerably. Data from TheTie confirms a substantial increase in both buyers and sellers on decentralized exchanges.
Currently, Boros supports Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) funding rates, but future plans include expanding to encompass other floating yields, such as staking rewards and tokenized Treasury bills. This expansion will further enhance the platform’s versatility and appeal to a broader range of users.
Pendle’s impressive performance is further amplified by its integration with the Hyperliquid ecosystem. Since the integration, Kinetiq’s kHYPE, the largest liquid staking token on Hyperliquid’s HyperEVM, has attracted an impressive $221 million in TVL. This collaborative synergy has undoubtedly contributed to Pendle’s overall success.
The substantial outperformance of the PENDLE token compared to the broader cryptocurrency market is noteworthy. Over the past week, PENDLE surged 45%, significantly outpacing the CoinDesk 20 (CD20) index’s 13.15% increase, highlighting the market’s positive response to Pendle’s innovations and growth trajectory. The high Bitcoin funding rates (averaging around 10% annualized) and significant open interest ($80 billion) suggest a robust market environment contributing to Pendle’s success. The substantial daily volume of $8 billion exchanged between longs and shorts indicates a dynamic and liquid market.
